Wow… wow. I think the cockpit is going to need some paper towels to clean things up in there after this landing attempt. I can only imagine that their relief at not being smeared all over the tarmac is only tempered by the fact that they need to circle around and try again. Maybe they stayed in the air for a while until the storm passed or maybe landed at an alternate airport.

And if that hasn’t scared you away from flying, here is a compilation of various landing attempts in strong cross-winds. It appears that landing in a steady cross-wind is one thing, however a gusty variable wind appears to be the real challenge. I am seriously impressed with the test videos of the Boeing 777 in the video, the extreme angles it can approach at and yet land with (what appears to be) the greatest of ease.
